Queen & Rook Game Cafe is in search of:

Servers (Part time)

One year of experience in a high-volume full-service restaurant is required.

Base pay starts at $4 / hour + tips, If base plus tips. If daily base plus tips does not equal or exceed $12 an hour we will round up to be $12 an hour.

May require carrying plates, bend and reach for extended periods. May require pushing, lifting up to 35 pounds, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, as needed. Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.

 Duties include:

  1. Greeting and interacting with guests in a warm welcoming manner.
  2. Guiding guests through our menu; being knowledgeable about our food, preparations, and ingredients. 
  3. Taking accurate food and drink orders and providing friendly, attentive service that makes our guests look forward to their next visit.
  4. Make thoughtful and fun game recommendations to guests.
  5. Provide quick walk-throughs to teach guests how to play select games.
  6. Bussing tables and running orders form the kitchen.
  7. Preparation of delivery orders and coffee items.
  8. Quickly and accurately handle payment for services and items. 
  9. Attend trainings and learning sessions.
  10. Arrive on time to each shift ready to work.
  11. Other duties as required.

Gamekeeper/Busser (Part Time)

Game Keeper/Busser helps tables find games and teaches them games as well as busses empty dishes and glasses and resets tables between guests. The pay for this position is $13 an hour plus tips. Must be available on Weekends. Duties includes

  1. Help guests find games and teach them from our library
  2. Clear empty glasses/plates for guests & offer refills
  3. Sanitize games that have been used & return to shelves
  4. Check games for completeness as they’re sanitized
  5. Make sure tables are bussed after guests are finished
  6. Make sure games in library are in the correct place
  7. Ensure games in retail section are in correct place
  8. Learn new games when able
  9. Repair damaged game boxes, organize pieces w/ bags
  10. Other duties as required

Youth Programs Assistant Teacher

Job Description: Queen & Rook Youth Programs is hiring an Assistant Teacher! 

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading small groups of children in board game play, board game play tests, and various other activities
  • Supporting children in settling disputes and disagreements
  • Passing out snacks and drinks to children at snack time
  • Monitoring physical safety of children on-site and on walks locally
  • Checking in with parents and making sure the sign in/out is completed
  • Attending Youth Programs team meetings and trainings, as needed
  • Light cleaning and housekeeping, as needed, throughout the day

Previous experience working with children in group settings required.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience with modern board games, RPGs, and/or TCGs (highly recommended)
  • Be familiar with afterschool programs and/or summer camps
  • Demonstrate ability to build strong rapport with children and teens
  • Have experience working with neurodivergent children
  • Be able to complete required clearances, including PA Child Abuse History, PA State Police Criminal Records Check, and FBI Criminal Background Check (will be reimbursed)
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills
  • Be able to reliably commute to Philadelphia, PA 19147 (or be willing to relocate prior to starting) – required

Hours: Part-time

Salary: $17/hour
